Liatris spicata, also called Blazing Star. zones 3-8. Similar to the straight species which is purple, this selection, 'Floristan Weiss' is white. Get some purple also--it looks great to have a bed of Liatris with the two colors mixed!
Native to the eastern US, Blazing Star is a summer blooming perennial known for its bright and showy flowers which have a bottle-brush form. Grows 2-4′ high, does well in fun sun or partial shade. It makes a great cut flower and is deer resistant. Sold as corms (underground swollen plant stems) about the size of a large acorn.
