Ninebark. Physocarpus opulifolius (species, not a cultivated variety) zones 2-8. 18-24″. Ninebark is an upright, spreading, deciduous, shrub. Growing 5-10’ tall, it is noted for its exfoliating bark which peels in strips to reveal several layers of reddish to light brown inner bark–hence the common name of ninebark. This is a bare root plant ready to go into a pot or into the ground.
