Bloodroot. Sanguinaria canadensis. Zones 3-8, currently a root, gets 4-6" tall. Bloodroot is a beautiful spring wildflower native to the eastern US. Also known as Red root or Indian paint, each flower stalk produces one 2" wide white flower with 8-10 petals and numerous yellow center stamens. Bloodroot plants will spread on its own over time to form large groups of plants. Bloodroot is a powerful medicinal plant and therefore should be used with caution.
