Persimmon. Diospyros virginiana (species, not a cultivated variety) zones 4-9. Ornamental landscape tree grows to 20-30' high and produces an edible food crop. This native to the eastern United States is dioecious, so you must have both male and female plants to obtain fruit–plant several to be sure. Fruit ripens in September and becomes sweet and may be eaten off the tree. This is a bare root plant ready to go into a pot or into the ground. 18-24″ plus roots.
