Viburnum, Mapleleaf. Viburnum acerifolium. USDA zones 3-8.
This viburnum is more shade-tolerant than most of the other species of Viburnum. Native to the eastern US, it is a relatively small woodland shrub that grows 3-6' tall and 2-4' wide. It will send up new shoots over time and become thick and dense. Small white flowers bloom in mid to late spring, giving way to pea-sized fruit that ripen to bluish-black in late summer. The leaves in the fall have brilliant reddish-purple color. Full sun to part shade.
Dormant, bare root plant, 18-24" tall + roots.
